Preston North End were officially founded in 1880 after starting life as a cricket club. The club then went on to be one of the founder members of the Football League in 1888. The club won the first football league and FA Cup and gained the nickname, The Invincibles. The most famous players associated with Preston North End are Sir Tom Finney and Bill Shankly who both now have stands named after them at Deepdale.
